i was thinking about analogies for the TR and then, well, i had an idea and a light bulb must have appeared in my thought bubble because i thought of that. the TR is a light bulb! its seemingly very fragile being made of glass but that is really the least likely part to break--all the interpersonal ties and the economic and cultural exchanges--but the tiny little metal coil is like the political relationship. it can snap and fray and without it you don't notice that the rest is functioning just fine. and that is the other thing, you don't really notice or appreciate it unless it isn't working. just something fun i thought I'd throw out there. any body else want to comment on my analogy or come up with their own?
